“For me, the purpose of photography is to take the viewer on a journey. To capture the imagination and create a sense of awe for the world around us. There is no substitute for actually being there, but I hope my photos will unlock your imagination and invite you to explore this amazing planet.” –Dan Ballard

Marc Morris (Tamron USA)

A 24 year veteran of the photo imaging industry, Marc started as a custom print tech learning color, printing, and lab management through Kodak’s Q-lab and the SPFE curriculum before ever owning a camera. After accidentally breaking (and therefore purchasing) the first camera he ever borrowed, he was hooked. Jewelry, weddings and portraits graduated to skateboarding and the Winter X Games.

Marc has been in the field since 2008 and worked for Olympus and Sony before finally joining forces with Tamron, where he gets to play with all the glass – something that makes his inner nerd very happy.

Landmarks he’s proud of: he’s sold cameras to a Beatle, been technical advisor to no less than a dozen Pulitzer prize winning photographers, and was there in the Rainbow Room at 30 Rock when the birth of the modern mirrorless genre was announced by Panasonic, during which he became the first person in the world to shoot a panoramic of the New York City skyline with a mirrorless camera.

Always the student, he’s excited to see what the future holds as the industry continues to move forward.
